When undesirable things are happening that we don't like, the mind becomes disturbed. We cannot control the world, but we can take charge of our own world.

Developing a calm and quiet mind will bring peace and happiness into our lives. Meditation teaches us how to stop perpetuating the unnecessary suffering that results from trying to escape the discomfort and even pain.
